I have talked about triglycerides in many of my other articles. Elevated triglycerides is a hallmark sign of a condition called insulin resistance. But, can high triglycerides be a contributor to “brain fog”, fatigue or low energy levels?
Most of my new patients have a common symptom called fatigue or chronic fatigue. They talk about how they don’t have energy to do much of anything. They explain how they get short of breath with just a little physical activity.
They also tell me how they have brain fog or lack of mental clarity and acuity. I help patients who have all kinds of different health problems. It’s a lot of fun for me because I get to help people be healthy and happy again.
Many of the conditions I treat have fatigue in common. This is for various reasons which are too many to list in one article. In this article, I’m going to talk about anemia and why it causes fatigue.
The debate about cholesterol is an interesting one. I’ve had some patients tell me that their prescribing doctor told them that they weren’t going to be happy until they lowered their cholesterol to below 100.
I’ve had other patients tell me that their doctor wanted them to take the statin drug to lower their heart attack risk or risk of stroke. They prescribed the statin lowering medication to limit the patient’s risk.
I understand wanting to limit risk of a possible stroke or a myocardial infarction. No one wants to have a heart attack or a stroke. But, the literature hasn’t shown a significant decrease in stroke and heart attack rates since cholesterol lowering medications began being prescribed.
Additionally, cholesterol below 140 is considered an ominous sign of poor health. Ominous means bad. I think of the word “ominous” as something that is going to cause impending doom. It’s not good.
